Dacia has revealed its upgraded Spring model, which aims to maintain its position as the most affordable electric vehicle in Europe. The small electric crossover has undergone an update that has focused mainly on design improvements.
The updated Dacia Spring comes with slightly revised dimensions: length 3701 mm, width 1583 mm and height 1519 mm, while the wheelbase remains at 2423 mm. The boot volume has been increased to 308 litres, and offers up to 1,004 litres of space when the rear seats are folded down. The vehicle now has an additional 35 litres of front trunk (frunk). Despite the richer equipment, the weight of the new model is kept below 1 tonne, specifically weighing 985 kg in top version.
In terms of powertrain, the basic technical specification remains unchanged. The standard version offers 33 kW of power and acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in less than 20 seconds. More powerful variants offer 48 kW of power and acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in less than 14 seconds. The battery capacity remains at 26.8 kWh, allowing a range of over 220 km according to the WLTP standard.Unfortunately, the maximum DC charging power supported is only 30 kW, where charging from 20% to 80% takes a long 45 minutes. The on-board charger has a capacity of 7 kW and allows the battery to be fully charged in 4 hours.
The big news with the "new" Spring is the V2L function, which allows the battery power to be used to power external electrical equipment (220V, 16A).
The equipment of the new Dacia Spring includes a range of standard features such as a digital instrument cluster, height-adjustable steering wheel, power steering, cruise control, central locking and much more.
Higher trim levels will offer a central touchscreen, while lower trim levels rely on steering wheel controls and a connected mobile phone that the owner mounts on the dashboard.
The upgraded Dacia Spring electric car will be available to order this spring and is expected to enter the market in the summer. The exact price has not yet been announced.
