The highly anticipated Hyundai Ioniq 5 N has finally made its world premiere at the prestigious Goodwood Festival of Speed. This marks a significant milestone for Hyundai's N sub-brand as it introduces its first high-performance electrified model.
One of the standout features of the Hyundai Ioniq 5 N is its dual electric motor setup. The model boasts an impressive total output of 600 horsepower (448 kW) and 545 pound-feet (740 Nm) of torque. Additionally, the N Grin Boost function takes the performance to even greater heights, offering 641 hp (478 kW) and 567 lb-ft (770 Nm) of torque for a brief period of 10 seconds. With this powertrain, the Ioniq 5 N can accelerate from 0 to 62 miles per hour in just 3.5 seconds, which decreases to 3.4 seconds when the N Grin Boost is activated. The car boasts a top speed of 161 mph (260 kph).
Hyundai has equipped the Ioniq 5 N with an 84.0-kilowatt-hour battery. It also features 800-volt technology, enabling ultra-fast charging capabilities. The battery can be charged from 10 to 80 percent in an astonishingly short time of 18 minutes.
In terms of design, the Ioniq 5 N stands out with its sporty and aggressive appearance. It is larger than the standard model, featuring a width increase of 1.6 inches (40 mm) at the bottom and a length increase of 3.2 inches (80 mm). The car sits 0.79 inches (20 mm) closer to the ground and incorporates various design elements such as a lower bumper lip spoiler, active air flaps, and a functional mesh air curtain. The N-exclusive Luminous Orange accents the contrasting black trim on the bumper, side skirts, and rear diffuser. Furthermore, the Ioniq 5 N boasts 21-inch forged aluminum wheels wrapped in specially tuned Pirelli P-Zero tires designed for electric vehicles.
Inside the cabin, Hyundai has introduced the newly designed N steering wheel, proudly displaying the N performance brand's logo for the first time. The steering wheel features four buttons: Drive Mode Select, N Grin Boost, and two N Custom buttons. The N Custom buttons allow drivers to configure their personalized drive modes, with each mode mapped to a specific button. The paddles for the e-shift and N Pedal functions are conveniently located behind the steering wheel. Hyundai has also prioritized driver comfort by adding a knee pad and shin support to the reinforced center console, as well as a sliding armrest. Additionally, the bolstered seats have been positioned 0.8 inches lower and are available in cloth-and-leather or eco-Alcantara-and-leather combinations with a pixel pattern.
The Hyundai Ioniq 5 N brings a new level of performance, technology, and design to the electric vehicle market. With its impressive powertrain, advanced software features, and attention to detail, the Ioniq 5 N is set to deliver an exhilarating driving experience for enthusiasts seeking high-performance electric vehicles.
